Sexist?

Postby LilRaverBoi » Sun Sep 23, 2007 4:09 pm

Dude...what's up with the whole differential pricing based on gender? Since when is this acceptable. Do you feel that by giving women a discount that more will attend? because I really don't think that will work. It's a bunch of BS if you ask me.

It will probaby get a couple of people in there that would be in like "fuck it" if i was $10- but i think most everyone thats going to this show is going cause they want to, no matter the price really.the target agenda is probably to get a buncha bar bitches in there, take their money, and hopefully introduce a few new pieces of ass to the scene or for the night. tho it is a lil unfair, i guess you just need to start throwing parties- or get a pair of boobs :) if guys dress as girls does that count?

in order to even break even with Ocelot we needed to have at least half the people that come in pay 10$. Rather than charge 10 to all, we only are charging 10 to guys, because this way with all the out-of-state attendance that will be present, we can ensure that there will be a balance of the sexes. Girls tend to dance more man, we just want as much dancing and positive energy as possible. This will keep away the sleeze ball dudes!

to be fair- at psy shows alot of guys dance or stomp, its the other parties that i hardly see dudes shaking their asses. i understand making money and i guess its just nice that you dont charge everyone 10 cause you could- though you coulda charged EVERYONE 7 or 8 and still made the same rather than 5 and 10. but your parties, do as you will, but you guys shoulda expected some "wtf" attitude towards it.

drunk ic girls tend to be easier to deal with than drunk ic frat boys. And its not about getting "new pieces of ass" to come to our shows... its about bringing new people, and we want to balance it out, because we are going to probably fill capacity anyway, as we can only fit 250 in the club. why is that so wrong?

if you dont like it and feel left out, bring a girl and each of you pay $7.50. than you each pay the same! *theres an idea bryan*

and to liz, of course your happy about it.. id be ecstatic if half the edm shows I went to were like 80% girls...

instead of complaining about how you dont like things, maybe actually doing something to improve it is in order... it sounds crazy... but maybe... just maybe... if action was taken..? nah! crazy talk! a bunch of BS!

people can't cry about that shit...

half the clubs in iowa city don't charge ladies at all..

WHO CARES!?

you've got to do whatever you can to get people in the door these days. i think that MORE guys would come if they knew that the women were gettin' in for cheap.

how many 'ladies nights' have you been to at a club that wasn't SWARMING with dudes.

i think you guys are doing alright.

wow i think this guy gets it! :)

and dj KO, obviously if you are attending, you are not a sleezeball! the $10 will only scare away the sleezeballs, as they judge parties solely based on cover charge and likelihood of getting laid. a Trance event that is costing them $10 will surely keep most of the pervs outta the bar, and get many awesome girls INTO the bar. when girls have fun, and spread the word, guys will follow. please respect what we are doing, as we were originally going to charge $10 a head to everyone.

the only difference, is that girls get in cheaper...

if we honestly do not think about the "gender difference" thing, and think about how the turn out will be effected by this, i think everyone can agree that this will help create a much better vibe, considering how crazy Iowa City bars can get on a Friday night.

if the town is out in full force, then that means that Frat boys will out number Girls, as usual. The ratio of the bar-going population is not equal, and therefore, we most endorse a reversed-ratio pricing system. To scare away the access of dudes, you charge them more, which should create a nearly equal ratio of attendees, and a High-Energy, Fun-Loving Vibe that we need at this event.

I have been complimented by countless girls from my Evolution and Ecology courses (smart women) that totally love this idea, and it is one of the MAIN reasons they are finally deciding to come to one of the many events i have been telling them about.

PREPARE YOURSELVES!

sooo...

which one of you psy guys was the 1st to come up w/ this idea of charging "dudes" more?

of course it was a decision that was approved by the collective but I'm just curious as too who 1st came up w/ this idea.

Also by you guys gender pricing this show am I to conclude that all future mindoutpsyde events will be biasly priced by gender as well?

I'm not bitching here either so please don't respond w/ a justification as to why you're organizing your show the way you are, just answer the ?'s at hand.
